Monday, February 28

Today we learned about congruent figures. Congruent figures are exactly the same, they are the exact same size and the exact same shape. Sometimes the sames are just in different positions so they do not look like they are the same. It just takes turning or flipping the shape to make it look the same.
Some of you missed class during 1st and 3rd hours when you were at choir practice. Don't worry, Wednesday during Inspire I will be teaching section 7-5.

Hope you all enjoyed your extra day of winter break. I sure did!! It was hard to get back into the work mode for all of us today!! Today we learned about the different types of triangles, equilateral, scalene, and isosceles. Ask your child what makes each of these triangles special.

Friday, February 18

Happy Friday!!! Today we learned about different types of angles, right, obtuse, and acute. This was all review for the students. We also talked about supplementary angles, complementary angles, vertical angles, and adjacent angles. Using these terms we area able to find the measurements of missing angles is drawings.
There was plenty of time in class to finish the worksheet so many students will not have homework.

Thursday, February 17

Today we talked about lines, rays, and segments and their differences. We also talked about parallel and intersecting lines. After the brief mini lesson, students had half of the class to finish their vocab cards and work on the worksheet for 7-1.

Chapter 7 has begun! Today we worked on vocab notecards for Chapter 7. Some students worked really hard and finished most of the notecards. Tomorrow you will have half of class to finish up the notecards. If you did not finish many notecards today, then you should work on them at home tonight.

On the math web page the vocab terms are attached at the bottom of the page. Please use the definitions we have given to you, not ones from the internet or from the book.

Notecards are due at the beginning of class on Friday.

HW~ Work on notecards if you are not finished with the front side of the sheet.

Happy Valentine's Day. Today we reviewed for the Chapter 6 Test which we are taking tomorrow. Students have the opportunity to earn some extra credits while studying for the test. If they complete the Chapter Review Problems #6-34 (evens) p. 316 & 317 and also correct it on page 377, they will receive extra credit.

Today we corrected homework from yesterday, took a survey about Camp Roger, and worked on the Chapter 6 Practice Test. Students who did not finished the practice test will have that for homework this weekend.

Quiz Day!! The quiz the students took today covered sections 6-4 to 6-7 which was about percents and proportions and percents and equations. Students could use either method to solve the problems.

Today we learned how to solve percent problems using equations. In class we made a foldable to help remember how to set up the equations and then solve. While working on homework, students should refer to foldable for help in setting up equations and solving them.
